Lead contamination in drinking water can be very worrying to users. As a temporary measure, one can use bottled water or to collect water from some other sources. The former is not environment friendly and the latter is not convenient because water is very heavy.

Lead may leach out into the water by prolonged contact (say 6 hours). One simple method is flush out the possible contaminated water by opening the water tap for 6 minutes, and then collect the water for drinking and cooking.
