Haemodiafiltration (HDF) is a new dialysis technique.  It combines the process of conventional haemodialysis and haemofiltration.  Haemodialysis removes small molecules like urea, creatinine and acids. The haemofiltration removes the larger ‘middle molecules’.  The treatment helps to prevent long term dialysis complications and there is less hypotension episodes during the procedure.

This technique needs special machines and specially trained nurses.  In this video, Dr Ho Chung Ping discussed with Ms Wong Sui Lan and Ms Chan Wai Yee on the topic. Ms Wong and Ms Chan demonstrated how the process was done in a renal unit.
