CRRT stands for continuous renal replacement therapy. It is now widely used in ICUs to treat critically ill patients with kidney failure. It has a relatively short history and started in in 1980’s with CAVH, CVVH, CVVHD. CRRT is in fact a form of CVVHD but much of the manual work is replaced with a computer (microprocessor).

Dr Ho Chung Ping explains the different forms of treatment. There are also photos taken throughout the different phases of development.
