Dr Ho Chung Ping delivered a lecture on the management of diabetic nephropathy through three steps – early detection, maintain normal blood sugar, control of hypertension and proteinuria.
The detection of microalbuminuria is the most important early detection test. All patients with Type II diabetes mellitus should have the microalbuminuria test done at the time of diagnosis and then every year.
